What does it mean to you to be quirky and what do you love about it?
To me it’s about the ability to transform your senses. Look at things in more than one way and bask in the beauty of how scenarios can unravel more than one outcome. It’s so exciting to continue to find something fun.
What’s a secret, unusual talent that you have?
My current unusual talent is teaching myself to skateboard, this is completely out of context to my usual self and shocking everyone when I rock up with the board stating “I boarded here.” to shocked faces. Finding new things to accomplish is my little thriving secret.

Where do you find your mojo?
It’s a bad habit but I love listening into people’s conversations whether in a coffee store, subway or at the supermarket. It’s always so fascinating to build an entire story around one small comment you hear, where did this character come from? where are they going?
Explain one experiment you’ve done that changed your life:
One recent experiment that changed my life was the decision to pack up and move to New York for a year. What I would do, where I would live was all an unknown. It was a leap out of my comfort zone which resulted in a year of constant growth and learning allowing to tackle what will happen next differently to how I would a year ago.
What’s your favorite recent discovery for…
Your home: It’s not a recent discovery but when you live in and out of a suitcase travelling all the time, finding a decent cupboard to unpack your stuff in is always a pleasant discovery!
Your body: Running especially on a summery night and getting back into my Yoga practise.
Your belly: Currently bagels are top of my list, who knew one would miss those devilish treats so much once leaving New York.
Your soul: Sunshine! Finding time to bask in the heat with friends, it’s glorious to have some time to do nothing but chat and relax especially in the fast paced world we live in these times become more precious.
Music: I’ve recently stumbled across BROODS an upcoming New Zealand band, having only released one single that is smashing it’s going to be exciting to follow along on what happens next with them!
Writing: I’m not a big reader especially when it’s a large book as I tend to loose interest, so small reading material is better for me and currently thats flicking through Monocle. What a great all rounded magazine, sure to find inspiration and read up on the world all in one go.
Art: I discovered Trendland.com not to long ago and that keeps me up to date with new artist, collaborations, music etc… It’s a fantastic blog to see what’s happening around us and discovering artist I would not normally come across.

How do you celebrate the deliciousness of being quirky?
You know I think this is sometimes one thing we forget to do, celebrate the quirkiness. To me one of the most satisfying moments is when someone reacts and joins in on the fun, that’s a celebration to me when there is more than one of us being quirky!
What is your #1 tip for a fellow quirkster?
Never stop exploring.
About: A contemporary dancer born and raised in New Zealand.
