What does it mean to you to be quirky and what do you love about it?
It means spending a great deal of time in my own wormhole. Yeah, it’s funny how you can be perceived as quirky from the “outside” world.

What’s a secret, unusual talent that you have?
I have the ability to perceive how we are all connected at a higher level. I do gain confidence by simply knowing we are all part of a greater harmonic and geometric universal arrangement. What does this mean? I can easily sympathise with others. I perceive their hidden emotions…

:: Quest ::

Where do you find your mojo?
Mainly from Nature. This Universe is so fascinating… By observing the simplest events (we usually take for granted) like the sunrise, the wind in the branches of the trees, the clouds passing by, the little bug on the window, the wind stroking the grass, the sound of the birds … I finally find my center.

Explain one experiment you’ve done that changed your life:
This is a recent one…I became vegetarian two years ago, and it’s changed my lifestyle in many subtle and obvious ways. When I visit my family in Spain we all have vegetarian meals… so no more Spanish ham or ensaladilla. I find that deliciously quirky.

What’s your favorite recent discovery for…
Your home: that I want to keep it simple and white for ever. Two years ago I moved to such a wee apartment with my partner that the only way to keep it clean and habitable is to keep it free from…all that is not essential.

Your body: that I can become tinier at 35 than I was at 15. Isn’t that ironic? ;-)

Your belly: that slightly above it, it is situated the Solar Plexus Chakra, represented by a descending triangle. It is the center that gives us the sense of complete satisfaction and contentment.
Your soul: that having “desires”, “failures”, “expectations”, “motivations”, “ambitions”, “problems”, “emotional waves”….is OK. Always, it’s simply part of the game of life. Don’t worry and be happy ….!

Music: Lisa Gerrard, Tangerine Dream and Byron Metcalf…to name a few.

Writing: About mine: that if I forget about what other may think, I can even write about myself. About others: The War of Art by Steven Pressfield and Now, Discover your strengths by Marcus Buckingham (two must-read for creatives)

Art: that it is everywhere. When we call something “artistic” is because it is communicating with us in one form or another. ART is Pure Communication. We must stay Open to receiving the messages.

:: Mission ::

How do you celebrate the deliciousness of being quirky?
By feeling free, connected and inspired. Every time I feel grateful, I celebrate it. When I dare to feel myself regardless of where I am or with whom I am, I celebrate it. When I make ART, I celebrate it…When I feel joyful I embrace it fully!

What is your #1 tip for a fellow quirkster?
Make Self-discovery a priority in your life and Trust the signs.

About: Mila Tovar defines silence as a universe of infinite doors. In her studio, she starts her daily meditation connecting herself with the vibration of that silence. Outdoors, her camera is constantly seeking the intricate branches that uplift the trees.

She channels her experiences and desires through Photography and Graphic Design. Her work is like a gallery of doors welcoming us into a new universe of magic, colour and motion, where reality is crumbling in front of our eyes and we get suspended in a vacuum, as if we were at the starting point of Creation.

…”When a piece of art vibrates in you, what is actually happening is a recognition. A part of your presence is being shaken by the proportions and colours because it gets in alignment with the vibration emanating from the piece. It’s like looking yourself into the mirror and noticing, for an instant, your pulsating essence”.

Mila Tovar was born in Murcia (Spain) in 1978. She studied Modern Languages and Translation and worked as a teacher for ten years before devoting herself to ART. In 2010 she moved to Stirling, Scotland, and soon afterwards she initiated her first creative project as an independent artist called: THE TREE CONNECTION.
